Annual Conference FAQs

When will I know if my conference proposal has been accepted?                                                                                                                         Conference proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis approximately every two weeks.  Presenters who have submitted proposals will be notified that their proposal has been accepted or not immediately following these reviews.  First authors who do not include contact information for any co-presenters are responsible for notifying them of the proposal’s status.

When will I know the date/time of my presentation?
NCGE is planning to have a preliminary schedule ready by June/July for the conference in August.  In addition, presenters will be sent an email with the date/time of their presentations as soon as this preliminary schedule is assembled.

Can I organize sessions around certain themes?
NCGE highly encourages participants to organize sessions around the conference strands.  Session leaders should collect all necessary contact information and abstracts and keep co-presenters informed of the session details.

Are conference presenters required to cover the cost of the registration fee?
While special keynote speakers and some award winners
may receive a conference fee waiver, NCGE requires that all session presenters pay a conference registration fee.  For information about possible sponsorships, please contact your state Geographic Alliance

Why must I register for the conference before submitting my proposal?
NCGE is committed to providing a full slate of quality presentations.  We ask that presenters make a commitment to attending the conference, so that we in turn, can guarantee a complete conference program. If for some reason your proposal is not accepted, you will receive a full refund of registration fees.

I am an international visitor. Can NCGE help me attend the conference?
The NCGE welcomes educators from around the world to share ideas, research and best practices in geographic education.  If you reside outside of the United States and need a letter of invitation to visit the U.S. for an annual meeting, please send a request via email to jwaite@ncge.org.  In your request, please include the following: your full name; mailing address; organization or school name; and title of your presentation, if applicable.

Please note: NCGE does not provided funding for registration, transportation or lodging. Please see http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/temp_1305.html for more information about visiting the United States.

My organization supports geography education. How can I exhibit at the next conference or sponsor a
conference event?
Please contact Zach Dulli at zach@ncge.org for more information about exhibiting or sponsoring future conferences.
