SUMMARY:APHG Happy Hour - Unit 4
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informal\, organic discussion facilitated by APHG educators for APHG educators. Each session will focus on a participant-driven conversation about each unit where you can share your insights\, seek advice\, and discuss the latest trends that support the implementation of the AP Human Geography curriculum without the constraints of a formal presentation. \nThis months discussion will explore the forces that shape the political organization of our world. Join us to discuss how we can help the students examine territoriality\, political boundaries\, forms of government\, and the relationship between political power and identity. How do we help students understand the importance of contemporary political geography through examples of boundary disputes\, devolution\, separatist movements\, and supranational organizations? What strategies do you use? What skills work best with this unit? What FRQ strategies work well here? Do you have ideas you can share on how to connect units 2 and 3 with unit 4? Join us for this discussion. Bring your questions and your ideas! \n  \nFacilitator(s):\nAbbey McNair is an experienced social studies educator at Omaha Burke High School\, where she teaches AP Human Geography\, AP World History\, and AP European History while supporting the school’s MBA Academy. With more than two decades of teaching experience and extensive international travel\, she is committed to helping students develop historical understanding\, global awareness\, and critical thinking skills.  \nKyle Tredinnick is an instructor for Omaha Public Schools\, the University of Nebraska at Omaha\, and Chadron State College \nChris Turley is a nine year AP Human Geography teacher from Lincoln High School in Lincoln\, NE and has participated in the AP Reading for seven years. He has also taught an on-level world geography course for twelve years and has been a leader of several district level curriculum building projects. \nLearn more about APHG Happy Hour and Join the Discussion!
