This is the largest museum of its type in the world. The collection of over 15,000 musical instruments and associated objects that are grouped by regions of the world. Wander the 200,000 square-feet museum as you go from Asia to Africa and from North America to South America and other regions of the world, listening and viewing videos of the various instruments from 200 countries being played.
Learn about the online lesson plans and virtual workshops provided by the museum. Take part in a scavenger hunt (with prizes) that have students identify elements of culture (such as the use of natural resources, cultural diffusion, rites and ceremonies, gender roles, etc.) that can be shown through the museum experience. About your Tour Guide
In the past 30 years, Gale Olp Ekiss has continually showcased the application of K-12 geography skills and content at local, state, and national social studies conferences. Gale is a past Co-coordinator of the Arizona Geographic Alliance (AZGA). During her 18 years as Co-coordinator, she was the Project Manager for three National Geographic Society Education Foundation grant projects: GeoLiteracy, GeoMath, and GeoLiteracy for ELLs. Gale helped secure consistent funding for the Arizona Geographic Alliance making this alliance one of the most visible supporters of geography education in the nation. She taught for Mesa Public Schools (Mesa, Arizona) for 28 years before moving to the university level.
