DESCRIPTION:Summary\nIn this webinar participants will learn how to put together a Speed Dating Activity using terminology from the Urbanization Unit. Please note that speed dating can be used throughout every unit using the Essential Knowledge from the CED. \nPresenter\nPaula Woods\, NCGE 2022 AP Distinguished Teacher Recipient. My name is Paula Woods and I started my teaching career in CCSD almost 24 years ago. . After ten years of my hair turning gray due to teaching middle school geography\, I transitioned to the world of high school. I started off as an APUSH and US History teacher but I have to admit I missed the world of culture and maps. In the summer of 2014\, a year after we introduced APHUG at our school\, the teacher left to take another position and I was the designated “new” teacher. “This will be fun and this will be easy with my background.” How naive I was\, lol. While teaching this course has been challenging because I had to reframe what I thought AP Human Geography was and truly learn what it is\, it has also been fulfilling exposing my students to spatial analysis. The majority of my APHUG students tell me that this class was one of their favorites and that is enough to keep me coming back for more each year.
