COVID-19 Planning
TO ICELAND
All passengers are required to fill out a pre-registration form before departure to Iceland. For more information about Iceland’s COVID-19 response and to pre-register, click HERE. Please note that the pre-registration form cannot be confirmed and sent until 72 hours before your arrival in Iceland.

All arriving passengers are obligated to undergo one test for the detection of COVID-19 after arrival in Iceland. The first test is at the border and is free of charge. All arriving passengers must quarantine at their accommodations until the results come back (usually received within 5-6 hours but may take up to 24 hours). Test results are provided via text message or via the tracking app Rakning C-19.

The Icelandic Air “Visiting Iceland” blog provides clear and up-to-date information about current COVID-19 travel restrictions.

TO the UNITED STATES
According to U.S. Embassy in Iceland’s COVID-19 Information, all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within three calendar days of travel. NCGE has arranged for all Geocamp Iceland participants and staff to be tested for COVID-19 prior to departure. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel.

Apps to Consider

Electricity in Iceland
Iceland uses Northern European electrical standards (50 Hz/220 volts) so converters may be required for small electrical appliances brought from home. Some appliances such as chargers for laptops, digital cameras or mobile phones, may already be compatible with multiple voltages and may just need a travel adapter. Iceland uses the standard Europlug socket with two round prongs. Sample adapters – Joomfeen Universal Travel Adapter | European USB Wall Plug
