The National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE) is building a Partner Network: a community of organizations seeking to elevate geography’s impact on K-12 and higher education.

This network is made up of Geography organizations that have united university faculty and K-12 educators to support geographic literacy.

The purpose of the Arizona Geographic Alliance is to strengthen geography education in Arizona. We are funded through grants and receive support from Arizona State University's School of Geographical Sciences & Urban Planning, where the AzGA office is located. We are proud to partner with ASU in addition to the Arizona Council on Economic Education, Arizona Foundation on Legal Services and Education, and the Arizona Council for the Social Studies, as well as other national and state groups.

The California Geographic Alliance (CGA) is dedicated to supporting and improving geographic education and literacy in California through: Professional growth seminars for teachers (both in-service and pre-service); Developing and distributing instructional materials; Advocating structural changes at local and state levels to institutionalize geographic education across the curriculum; University-K/12 partnering, and; Promoting geographic awareness and literacy among the general public. The CGA partners with the California Subject Matter Projects, California Environmental Literacy Initiative, and numerous state and local initiatives designed to support and enrich K-12 education.

DCGE is a network of geographers working together to advance geographical literacy across Delaware and a part of the Network of Alliances for Geographic Education. We work primarily in the K-12 educational arena first and foremost providing technical support to districts and teachers in the area of geography education. As an educational outreach arm of the Department of Geography and Spatial Science, DCGE hosts a number of initiatives which engage directly with k-12 students to broaden their exposure to the geosciences.

Illinois Geographic Alliance's purpose is the promotion and enhancement of geographic knowledge in the schools and among the general populace of Illinois. To achieve this purpose, the Alliance maintains a strong grassroots organization of geographic educators from schools and universities, participates in educational reform at the district, state, and national levels. We engage in an active program of preservice and in-service teacher education, develop curriculum materials based on the National Geography Standards, and foster public awareness of the importance of geography in our society

The Geography Educators’ Network of Indiana enthusiastically equips educators with distinctive resources, connections, and teaching concepts. Indiana, thus, becomes a more effective participant in the global society. Because the study of Geography helps people understand, think knowledgeably, and make decisions about the world in which they live, and because Indiana interacts with the world at large, and every citizen in the state needs to be geographically literate, the Geography Educators’ Network of Indiana (GENI) exists to -a network of K-12 educators and university geographers; -promote the value and significance of geography in Indiana, -ensure the inclusion of Geography in the curricula of Indiana’s kindergarten through twelfth grade schools, colleges and universities, -provide opportunities focused on Geography training for Indiana educators, and -create and make available materials for the teaching and learning of Geography in Indiana.​

The Geographic Alliance of Iowa (GAI) was established in 1991 with the support of the National Geographic Society (NGS). GAI is composed of K-12 teachers, college and university professors, personnel from a variety of other educational endeavors, and citizens, all of who are concerned with improving geographic instruction in Iowa. As the only entity in Iowa specifically devoted to geography education, the mission of the Geographic Alliance of Iowa (GAI) is to help ensure K-12 graduates are geographically literate citizens. To achieve this mission, the GAI provides resources and expertise to improve the geographic literacy of Iowa students. With a particular focus on K-12 education, including pre-service teachers, the GAI provides exemplary professional development opportunities that follow accepted best practices and offers a clearinghouse of accessible, high quality, standards-based curricular materials.

Kansas Geographic Alliance (KGA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing geographic literacy among the citizens of Kansas. Its mission is to improve, promote, and support the teaching of geography in K-12 classrooms throughout Kansas.

The Kentucky Geographic Alliance is a grassroots organization of educators supporting geographic education. We provide support services for P-12 teachers in the Commonwealth to enhance the geographic awareness of students. As a part of this initiative we send out Kentucky in the News once a month in which local news stories are related to geography for use in Kentucky classrooms. Our nonprofit teaches students how to decipher the planet: how rivers shape a city, how an invasive snail strips a wetland, or why a neighborhood lacks groceries. The Maryland Geographic Alliance (MGA) is a network of university faculty, K-12 educators, and a wide array of organizations and institutions working to promote and enhance geographic education across Maryland. MGA is headquartered at Towson University, where it is focused on rebuilding and strengthening its network of professional geographers and educators. Professional development is a major goal of the Maryland Geographic Alliance. Since 1989, more than 14,000 educators have participated in our programs that emphasize geography content and incorporate hands-on activities. Workshops, summer institutes, and mini courses provide specific support for teachers of middle school world cultures, AP human geography, and geospatial technologies.

Founded in 1989 by Dr. Michael Libbee from Central Michigan University, and Dr. Joseph Stoltman of Western Michigan University, the MGA has been headquartered in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Central Michigan University since its inception. The mission of the Geographic Educators of Nebraska is to improve the quality and quantity of geographic education in the schools of Nebraska. We seek to accomplish this by expanding geographic content and classes in Nebraska schools, colleges, and universities, supporting educators (including pre-service) in their efforts to infuse geography and geographic content into their classrooms, and teaching: modeling, practicing, and exemplifying dynamic geographic education practices. The American Geographical Society Library (AGSL) was established in 1978 when the research collections of the American Geographical Society (AGS) moved, and ownership was transferred, to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. From the late nineteenth into the mid-twentieth centuries, the AGS led the nation in the collection and distribution of geographic information through involvement in important events in history, from assisting with the United States’ effort to prepare for and participate in the Paris Peace Conference at the end of World War I to leading an effort to map the world at the 1:1,000,000 scale.
