Join us for an informal, organic discussion facilitated by APHG educators for APHG educators. Each session will focus on a participant-driven conversation about each unit where you can share your insights, seek advice, and discuss the latest trends that support the implementation of the AP Human Geography curriculum without the constraints of a formal presentation.
This session will focus on unit 1 of the APHG course. Participants will discuss the content of unit 1, teaching strategies, and how unit 1 establishes knowledge and skills used throughout the course.
Meet the Facilitators
Michael Mewborne is the director of the South Carolina Geographic Alliance. A former high school teacher, he is now a research associate at the University of South Carolina studying geography education. He has over a decade of experience teaching high school and undergraduates, serves as a reader for the APHG exam, and is the Secretary for NCGE.
Jessica Chapman is the Education Programs Manager for the South Carolina Geographic Alliance. She uses her experience as a former high school teacher to help plan and facilitate professional development workshops. Jessica is a doctoral student in geography at the University of South Carolina and a member of the Board of Directors for NCGE.
